Year 6 – Fire – Forest School

Year 6 enjoyed another Forest School which they planned themselves last time. To begin with, we recapped different fire lays and which ones we’d use in differing scenarios and situation, critiquing them all in turn. After an indepth discussion, pupils then carried this knowledge into the main session where groups were challenged to light a fire to create S’mores. As well as the on-off showers, children also faced a number of challenges with damp sticks but through their determination and problem solving skills, and a lot of patience at times, every single group lit and maintained a fire in order to roast their marshmallows before placing them inside chocolate biscuits to eat!
