Welcome to Year 3 and 4!

We have had a blast over the last three days with the new classes in Year 3 and 4.

In maths, we have been practising our 3 and 4 times tables through a carousel. One of the activities included painting arrays for the times tables and completing some times table revision sheets. We also used multilink cubes to complete bar models for different calculations. Our final task was a role play task where we were given receipts for the number and cost of items. We had to use our times table knowledge to work out the cost of different items.

On Thursday afternoon, we had a carousel of activities that were linked to the topic we will be learning about in September, the Stone Age.  Our first activity was cave painting. First we looked at different cave paintings that were completed in the Stone Age and then we had to crawl into the ‘cave’ to complete some of our own cave paintings. The next activity was basket weaving. In the Stone Age, they used willow to weave baskets. We used string and paper plates to weave our own baskets. It was tricky but we used our resilience and determination to keep going. The final activity was Now Press Play where we got to listen to a Stone Age Story.
