LKS2- Class 4 – Geography

This week in Geography we developed our knowledge of using a compass. First we identified the four cardinal directions of North, East, South and West and how we can locate these on the compass rose. We then used this knowledge to discover how the four intercardinal directions are formed by bisecting the above, giving: northeast (NE), southeast (SE), southwest (SW), and northwest (NW). We showed our understanding of this by using a compass to direct our partner to the different compass points and then drew a compass on the playground in chalk.

We also worked on our atlas and map reading skills. We used the contents to find a map of Europe and had to identify 8 countries in Europe and label them on our own map. Then we followed directions using compass points to label 8 major cities.
