UKS2 – Class 8 – Geography Local Walk

Yesterday in geography, Class 8 conducted a local walk to formulate and sound map of our local area. Before leaving cool, the children discussed what a soundscape is and the different types of sounds we hear in our environment: geophonic, biophonic and anthrophonic. Then, using their street map as a guide, the children walked around Holt Park, mapping the different sounds they could hear. Along the way, the children also considered their other senses, including sight, smell and touch. They then used their geographical soundscape to deduce what type of environment they were in.
