Whittling Skills – Forest School – Year 4
Year 4 pupils built on their knowledge of whittling knives and how to use them safely by looking at different whittling techniques and being set two challenges in preparation for our sessions next week where they will be making their own Iron Age style bows and arrows. After a reminder and demonstration by the children on tool safety, they were set the challenges of whittling an even, sharp arrow head where the point was in the centre of the stick and to whittle a smooth, even and thick arrow shaft to create an arrow which flies straight and true. We discussed success and failures, sharing good tips and techniques across the group. We are all looking forward to seeing what we create next week!
