LKS2 – Class 5 – Science
Today in Science, we investigated different food labels. First we looked at Elsie Widdowson who wrote a book and listed important nutrients, like the carbohydrates, protein, fats and minerals that we find in all our foods. These nutrients are listed on food packages to help us make decisions about the food we eat. We then used different elements of the eat well guide to help us order, compare and group different foods, based on how we understood their nutrition label. Finally, we investigated the statement, ‘All foods that are high in fat are high in salt.’ We looked at the food contents and recorded our results in a table to help us decide whether this statement was true or false.
