Wellbeing Wednesday – Forest School
This morning in our Forest School sessions we looked at the skills and characteristics needed in order to light a fire and roast marshmallows. We discussed resilience, keeping calm and being able to follow instructions in a sensible order. We then began by using flints and steels to make sparks which we all did successfully by using the skills we’d mentioned at the start of the session. We then progressed onto setting cotton wool on fire before building a fire lay and lighting that. We discussed how to be successful in keeping the fire alive and the safety precautions needed to ensure we kept ourselves, and each other, safe around the fire. Once hot enough, we roasted our marshmallows and discussed the session. One of the highlights mentioned was how during the sessions, some pupils became coaches/teachers and helped others to learn and master a skill. Well done everyone!
