EYFS – Forest School

As part of our work on children’s mental health week, Forest School today focused on promoting nature and being outdoors as a way to boost our mood and emotions. Today, children in Reception were able to choose from a range of activities which included relaxing in hammocks, sit spotting, playing with mud, using loose parts to play games, make a magic wand using sticks and ribbon, go on a scavenger hunt, building dens and creating artwork using natural materials. All these activities promoted a range of skills including communication, co-operation, resilience and creativity. Children then moved into the Forest School garden area where they helped to maintain a fire and everyone got to eat some deliciously hot popcorn straight from the fire! A lovely warm snack on a cold winter’s day!
