KS1 – Newletter – 29.11.19
It’s been another busy week in Key Stage 1!
In Maths it’s been all about subtractions in Year 2, using base 10 and drawing out our tens and ones and learning how to exchange. Year 1 have been focusing on number families for number bonds to 10 and 20.
In English Year 1 have been reading ‘The Paper Bag Princess’ and writing their own versions of the story. Year 2 have been reading ‘George and the Dragon’ and focusing on higher level vocabulary and using dictionaries.
For Geography, we have learnt the four countries that make up the united Kingdom and this week have been focusing on the Capital city for each of the countries. Test us and see if we can remember them! We even used atlases and apps to try and locate them on a map.
In ICT we have continued with our algorithm work, pretending to be robots and instructing each other on how to build a tower using specific instructions.
Science was great fun, when we carried out experiments to see what amount of water we should add to sand to build the best sandcastle. We made sure it was a fair test by keeping the tray, the amount of sand and the cup the same and only changing the amount of water added.
Take over day happened on Thursday and it was exciting for Key stage 1 to have some of the older children in their classes, planning activities and being in charge for the day!
