LKS2 Newsletter 28/2/20
What a week in LKS2!
The Y3s kick started the half term on Tuesday with Mental Health Day. They had some extremely mature discussions about how to deal with failure, and using failure to help them learn instead of seeing it as a bad thing. Then we talked about how we can have a positive mindset to turn negative emotions into positive emotions. Finally, we took on a range of challenges to put our resilience to the test!
Then on Wednesday, the very excited Y4s left for a fun filled (if a little chilly!) few days in Robinwood!! They have taken part in a whole range of fantastic activities, including canoeing, archery, a zip line and lots of team challenges.
Back at school, the Y3s had an afternoon of geography, learning how to use an atlas. The children familiarised themselves with the key, and used this to help them locate things on a map of a continent, such as rivers, mountains and cities. We enjoyed having competitions of who could find the symbols the fastest!
The Y3s have also been working really hard in English this week. We’ve done a lot of work on recognising word classes, such as nouns, verbs, determiners and many more! Today, we used everything we learned to create poems about the beach. We had to write nouns, adjectives, verbs and adverbs to do with the beach, then we matched them together to create 4 lines of a poem:
Overall, another wonderful week and a fab start to a new half term.
