UKS2 – Newsletter – 06.11.2020

It has been a busy week in UKS2. On Monday, UKS2 had their second MindMate session of the term. Year 5 focused on ‘Identifying unhealthy relationships and friendships’, whilst Year 6 investigated ‘Maintaining healthy relationships’. All of the children engaged actively with the sessions and remained mindful and respectful throughout. Well done everyone.

On Thursday, UKS2 finished off their Victorian loom project. From the design stage all the way through to the decorating, the children have considered the aesthetics and functionality of their looms. They have displayed excellent collegiality in their groups and now get to take their creations home! Here are some example pieces from our children.

Also this week, UKS2 have started their first writing task of the half term. Focusing on the life, struggles and achievements of Mary Seacole, the children have been researching and role playing her journey to ‘The Crimea’ in order to compose a letter from her point of view. All pupils have relished the opportunity to write about the pioneering nurse and are looking forward to producing some inspirational and reflective pieces.

Finally, there is cause for another celebration this week in UKS2, with the following pupils receiving learnatic awards:  Brandon and Lilia (Class 8), Gabriel and Faith (Class 9) Yanna and Leah (Class 10).

There is also a special award for Eloise in Class 8. Her consistent hard work and excellent effort in all subjects has resulted in her being awarded the first 50 team point gold star of the year.

All of the children displayed exemplary behaviour, a positive attitude and going above and beyond for their class community.

Well done all of you, keep up the hardwork.

Ooh Ahh… you’re a star!!
