KS1 – Newsletter – 21.05.2021

The children have had a fun filled week, even with the weather being wet and miserable. 

In English, Class 1 have been reading the story Jack and the Beanstalk and acting it out. They have also been describing the characters and developing their questioning skills by hot seating different people, animals and objects. They have thoroughly enjoyed it, especially the role play aspect. Classes 2, 3 and 4 have all been focusing on the story ‘The Enchanted Wood’. Class 2 have been developing their predicting and inferring skills, class 3 have been predicting what they think will be in the enchanted wood, by using adjectives to describe and class 4 have been predicting and interpreting different chapters of the story. 

In maths, class 1 have been learning about bridging through 10 and consolidating addition to 20. Class 2 have been learning how to divide through sharing. Mr Morgan’s maths groups have been learning about coins and beginning to identify the different values, whilst Mrs Hoyle’s class have been consolidating their fluency skills by playing doubling and halving games, comparing numbers represented in different ways and reading and writing number to 100. 

Geography this week has been all about designing a new school garden, using features already within the school grounds and those they saw whilst at Golden Acre Park. In computing the children have been predicting where they they think a programmed bee-bot will travel too and in science they have been identifying different trees and plants. 

Overall, a very busy week finishing with our Eid celebrations. 

We would like to thank everyone for their lovely comments regarding our seaside event – we will have more details soon.  We want to make it as special as possible for them.
