EYFS Newsletter – 24/06/2022
The gorgeous weather has lasted another week and the children have had a great time enjoying the sunshine! The paddling pool has been out and the children have been excitedly writing sentences to earn the chance to have a paddle!
In Phonics this week we have continued practising our independent sentence writing. The children are doing a great job of remembering their finger spaces, capital letters, full stops, use of letter starters and careful choice of graphemes! On Tuesday we talked about superhero stories and the children were set the task of working in small groups to plan and then perform their own superhero tale. Everyone had a lot of fun enjoying the performances out in the sunshine, particularly loving the very energetic acting!
In Maths, we have been using all of the skills we have learnt so far this year to solve different problems. We investigated how many different ways we could make a selection of numbers using numicon and also played a bean bag throwing game with the challenge to verbally explain how to score the highest number of points and how to score the lowest number of points. Another problem we tackled was working out how many legs were hidden in different boat pictures when all we could see was the top part of the occupants bodies, and then also suggest possible boat occupants based on knowing how many legs were in the boat!
