UKS2 – Class 8, 9 & 10 – Forest School

Today was UKS2’s first cross-curricular day since returning from summer. Whilst the weather wasn’t always on our side, we had a brilliant day exploring lots of different topics. In French, the children were practising the vocabulary for parts of the body. After labelling a person in their books, they completed a listening exercise that tested their knowledge of numbers too!

In geography, the children were challenged on their knowledge of key ‘invisible’ lines on the world map, including: the Greenwich meridian, the prime meridian, the tropics of Cancer and Capricorn and the Antarctic and Arctic circles. After discussing the role of each line, they then had to draw them on the world map.

Finally, in Forest School, the children were challenged to build their own natural disaster fall out shelters. Having to withstand the after shocks of their chosen disaster (Could their shelter withstand the teacher test?), everyone worked collegially to build the sturdiest and most robust shelter they could.
