LKS2 Newsletter 7/10/22
Happy Friday all! Another fab week full of learning has taken place in LKS2…
In English, we have started a new book called The Wild Way Home, about a boy who goes back in time and finds a Stone Age boy. He has to decide what to do, so we created a ‘conscience alley’ to advise him how to help the Stone Age boy. One of the children walked down the ‘alley’ and we each gave a piece of advice. Then we used this to write our own paragraph explaining what the boy should do next.
In Miss Evans’ maths group, the children have used their rounding skills to complete a series of problem solving investigations. One of them included helping Miss Evans find a bagel thief! The children had to use rounding to the nearest 10,100 and 1000 to match up each suspect with the information we had about the criminal, and this enabled them to find the culprit…
In Forest School, we created our own tribes and had to build a shelter! We know that in the Palaeolithic era the Stone Age tribes were nomads and had to build new shelters wherever they went. Stone Age people used animal skins to create waterproof and windproof shelters, so we used tarpaulin and ropes to do the same!
In Miss Bennet’s maths group, the children have been using number lines to help with their rounding skills, as well as working in a group to complete some harder reasoning questions.
Reminders
On Thursday 13th October at 2pm there will be a parent workshop all about the Y4 MTC Check. All LKS2 parents are very welcome and encouraged to come, as Miss Bennett will be sharing details about the check as well as lots of tips and ways to help your child at home!.
Please can we ensure that from now on, all children are sent to school with a coat. The weather is getting more and more unpredictable!
Thanks for your continued support, we hope you have a lovely weekend.
