What an exciting and busy week we have had in reception this week!
On Wednesday we received an invitation from the Year 1’s to go and visit Class 1 and Class 2 and sit at the big tables with them for lunch! We had a lovely time being shown around the classrooms and outside by the Year 1 children and playing lots of fun games with them.
Wednesday afternoon we had our amazing sports day! Everyone had a brilliant time and we were so proud of how all of the children stayed positive and tried hard in every race. Thank you to all of the adults who came to cheer the racers on, it meant so much to the children to have you all there.
On Thursday morning we had our final forest school session. We danced, played in the sand, freed dinosaurs from ice, used mud to paint dino foot prints on the shed and acted out stories with dinosaur toys.
Thursday afternoon was very busy! It started with time on the field to have a go at all of the activities for the inflatable extravaganza! Everyone had a chance to bounce on the bouncy castles and slide, play sports and parachute games and make smores on the fire. Our final activity (and most peoples favourite) was the giant slip and slide.
Thursday afternoon continued to be exciting when we were invited to the hall to meet the Year 5 and 6’s. Earlier in the term, the reception children each designed their own worry monster. The older children then took these designs and have worked incredibly hard to bring each one of them to life! In the hall the children had the chance to present the worry toys to the reception children that designed them. These toys are going to be taken to their Year 1 classrooms ready to welcome them back in September.
As well as all of the special activities, we have also practised our sentence writing in phonics, used the words ‘more’ and ‘less’ to compare numbers in maths, and had a go at lots of different dinosaur activities around the classroom!
Have a great weekend!
