EYFS Newsletter – 13.09.19

We’ve had a wonderful time getting to know everybody in Reception this week. Now that we’re up to spending full days in school, we’re sure the kids have been coming home zonked – the staff certainly have been!

It has been fantastic to see friendships being established, and we have been really impressed by how considerate of each other the children have been as they explore their new classroom areas.

A lot of this week has been spent practicing routines of tidying up, travelling around school and stopping to listen when asked. So far, we have been bowled over by the children’s efforts and enthusiasm for helping us keep a safe and tidy class.

Our leafy story garden area has been very popular, with adults being kept busy reading and acting out many a story to enraptured audiences.

The home corner has seen a lot of action, with many a delicious meal concocted in the kitchen and enthusiastically served to adults and children alike. The well-stocked dressing-up area has also been greatly enjoyed with a parade of princesses, police officers, army men and bunny rabbits filling the room.

Outdoors we’ve had a great time making music on the stage and tackling a series of challenging obstacle courses around our track.

Already, we have begun training children about how to use the DT area and all its equipment in a safe way. There have been some amazing constructions – from boats and cars, to castles and magic wands!

Our half-termly topic of ‘Superheroes’ has inspired some fantastic role play adventures this week (particularly in the newly established top-secret superhero HQ) with children creating web-slingers, radios, vehicles and much more.

REMINDER: On Monday (September 16th) Reception will enjoy a full day of Superhero themed activities and games both in and outside. Children are encouraged to come to school in any super-costumes they may have. Don’t worry if you do not have anything appropriate – we have plenty of spare costumes to go around.

POLITE REQUEST: To avoid confusion and lost property can we kindly request that ALL clothing and bags be clearly labelled with your child’s name. This includes P.E. kit, coats, shoes etc. On Tuesday next week, we will be beginning P.E. sessions and having all clothes labelled makes it so much easier to help change the kids and avoid children going home with the wrong clothes.

Thank you for all your cooperation and patience. Have a great weekend!
