Wellbeing Wednesday – Forest School
Today pupils in KS2 looked at Remembrance Day across the UK. We discussed why it happened, what happens during it and the symbol used. After further discussions about the poppy and why that is the flower used to signify the Armistice in 1918, pupils set about finding loose parts around the school grounds which could be used to make their own poppies. Back in the poly tunnel, pupils used their creativity to turn our pile of loose parts into a poppy field and reflect on the lives of soldiers in the past and present. Next, we worked as a team to light a fire, in some tricky weather conditions it must be said, to enjoy a cup of hot chocolate and a biscuit as we reflected on our time in Wellbeing Wednesday Forest School sessions. We talked about what we’d learnt, how it made us feel and things we could take away from them. The second group used some left over pumpkins from Halloween to create hanging chicken feeders. We also fed the guinea pigs and rabbits their lunches and collected the eggs.
