UKS2 – Newsletter – 17.11.23
On Monday, UKS2 had a fantastic cross-curricular day, involving Forest School, French and computing. In Forest School, we used bow saws and wood clamps to create wooden rounds in preparation for the Christmas fair. In French, we learnt how to say and write different containers and drinks, focusing on which article to use for each. In computing, we began our new topic and focused on learning what a computer network is.
In English this week, we have focused on the lead up to our balanced argument write. We have debated reasons why each character (Icarus, Daedalus and King Minus) could have been responsible for Icarus’ death, created our own introduction for a newspaper report on Icarus death, and worked on our grammar goals.
Miss Boyd’s maths group have been learning inverse operations. We have worked together to read various mathematical questions, choose the correct operation using our knowledge of inverse operations, and then answer each question using our addition and subtraction skills.
In Geography, pupils in UKS2 (Class 9 and 10) had the opportunity to get out of school on a local walk. The aim was to develop their understanding of using OS maps. Pupils worked in pairs to work out the distance and time it would take to get to and from a chosen destination.
Important reminders:
Monday is forest schools – please send your children into school with suitable clothes (coat, hat, scarf etc) now the weather is getting colder. Also, an extra pair of shoes is required.
School photographs are scheduled for next Wednesday 22nd November.
