LKS2 – Newsletter – 16/9/2019

What a busy third week LKS2 had last week! Over the whole cross curricular day on Monday, all of the children developed their Forest School skills by learning how to map using a wide range of natural resources. They used various tools to cut through loose, natural objects amongst the school grounds and had to distinguish between human and physical features of the school when mapping it out.

In Science, each class created and executed their own leaf hunt and searched the grounds for various types of leaves which they then identified.

In Maths, Year 3 have been investigating place value. They have been studying the value of each column in a place value chart, exploring numbers up to 1000! They then played games and challenges to be able to order and compare these numbers up to 1000. Year 4 have been exploring 4 digit numbers. They have learnt how to order and compare various 4 digit numbers whilst also understanding the meaning of ascending and descending and a plethora of other mathematical language.

In PE, year 3 enjoyed their second joint lesson together whilst year 4 were swimming. The weather was pleasant so we stayed outside for the duration. We remembered our skills from the last lesson and combined them with our new skill, then created our own games in groups using aiming and weaving.

Lastly, in Computing this week, LKS2 focused on E-Safety. We revised how to be safe online and what we should and shouldn’t do on the internet. We used a chart to decipher which types of information would be beneficial to be put online but also information that shouldn’t be put online for others to see.
