Year 3 – Fire Making – Forest School
This afternoon at Forest School pupils in Year 3 began learning about fire making. First of all, children had to name and critique some pre-made fire lays before splitting into two groups to complete two challenges. The first task involved building a range of fire lays thinking about the different features of each and in which situations different fire lays may be more beneficial than others. The second challenge involved using flint and steel to make sparks for fire lighting. Now the pupils are in Year 3, children began learning how to use the KS2 flints instead of the ‘dragon sneeze’ ones we use in KS1.
