UKS2 – Newsletter – 30.09.2019

Week 5 has been an exciting one in UKS2. On Monday during PPA, pupils were creating their own Amphoras out of clay. Used as a vessel for drinking or storing liquids in the Greek and Roman times, these famous pots have become synonymous with intricate and bold decorations. The students will get to decorate their own Amphoras in our next PPA session in a fortnight!

On Tuesday, pupils were developing their knowledge about staying safe online and the possible problems and dangers that they may encounter when using the internet or apps on their mobile phones. Students were split into groups and given different scenario cards which they were asked to discuss. The pupils then had to consider what they might do if they ended up in that situation. Finally, pupils created a performance based on one of the scenarios and had to make sure that all possible solutions were addressed and the best course of action taken. There were some excellent pieces delivered and the students were very mature throughout. Well done!

Finally, this week in English we have been attempting to re-write the Ancient Greek myth of Theseus and the Minotaur. A thrilling tale of beasts, Labyrinths and heroes, the children had to summon their inner authors to complete their piece. There were some truly outstanding stories produced.
