It was wonderful to see all the children in their costumes for World Book Day today!
We began the day by showing everyone what we had come as and explained why before playing some games!
Then we read ‘Handa’s Surprise’ and did a range of activities based around the book including, fruit painting, matching the story together and acting it out.
Next we completed our very own scavenger hunt where we searched for different books using a checklist of what kind of book themes, characters or plots to find before making finger puppets of the character we had come as.
After that, Year 1 went to the hall to watch KS2 perform some twisted tales and we were very impressed with performances and Year 2 went to Cookridge Court to read to the residents there.
Finally we had a mystery reader – Mr Porteous – who read ‘The Book with No Pictures’ to the class.
