Year 3 – Forest School
Today Year 3 have enjoyed exploring our Forest School area where they have been presented with a couple of activities to complete as well as imaginative play. Pupils had a chance to develop their whittling skills by using knives instead of potato peelers which they have used before in Key Stage One. Following the same set of instructions and safety rules, children were able to use the whittling knives effectively for their desired purpose, focusing on the technique and safety more than the finished product. Groups also managed their own risk on the tree house whilst creating games which encouraged teamwork, resilience and problem solving. They were very excited to know that now they’re in Year 3 they could use the trap door and rope ladder for the first time and most agreed it was harder than it looked! Children also enjoyed creating soups, cakes and pies in the mud kitchen, playing on the slack line and experimenting with the water in the tough tray.
