EYFS – Forest School
What a wonderful morning we have had at Forest School today despite it being so busy with lots to do! First, children got to see our new composting toilet and listened to an explanation of how to use it before moving into our new Forest School classroom in the corner of the field. Using the classroom as a base, children were then free to choose their own learning this morning from a range of activities. Pupils could explore one of our wooded areas to play and make dens using our new den building sticks. In our other wooded area, children could relax in the hammocks and enjoy the flowers and bird song whilst we discussed the positive impacts of nature on our feelings. Children could also play games on the school field, make daisy chains and some groups ventured up into our Forest School garden area. Here, children weeded two vegetable beds, as well as the potato tyres, before planting two different types of potatoes and a handful of onions. Somehow, we also managed to fit in snack and story inside our new outdoor classroom and set up the portable solar panel charging unit. The children were fascinated to learn about renewable energy and watch the information displayed on the screen change depending on cloud cover. What a busy morning Reception!
