What a fantastic week it’s been in Reception! We’ve finished on a high, with the children dressing to express themselves today. So many wonderful outfits that show what a wonderful bunch of characters we have in Reception this year.
Maths this week saw us getting to grips with measurement. We explored how to measure size and time in different ways and started familiarizing ourselves with the associated vocabulary (longer, shorter, slower, faster etc.).
In Phonics we have been learning and applying the new phonemes, ai, ee and igh. We have been practicing reading and writing words and sentences incorporating these sounds and even turned newspaper reporters to share the strange sighting of cheese in the trees of Reception playground!
Forest schools was great fun as ever, with time spent looking after animals, both tame and wild. Children helped tend to the school rabbits and created some fabulous bird-feed treats to hang around the school garden. And on these frosty mornings, I bet the birds are very glad we did!
Thank you for those that brought books to swap. The swapping event on Friday was enjoyed by all and hopefully has given some of you some new books to get stuck into.
Next week is the last of the half term. We have P.E. on Tuesday in Reception, so please come dressed in your kit ready to go!
Have a wonderful weekend!
