What an exiting week in Reception!
In Phonics this week, we have been looking at the sounds w and x. For each sound we have practised our letter formation as well as how to use each letter when writing cvc words. We have also begun to introduce joining words together to make sentences. Our sounds next week will be the digraph y, z and zz.
In Maths, we have been looking at estimating and measuring length. We have practised using phrases such as, “is taller than” and “is shorter than” to compare different dinosaurs to objects we could find in the classroom. We then moved on to ordering sets of two and three objects from shortest to tallest.
We are very excited to announce this week that our new library system is up and running. As before, books need to be returned on a Monday as this is when we will be going down to the library to scan a new book to take home. We are also looking forward to finding out who can move their rocket on Monday for reading 3 times a week!
