What a fun week we have had in Reception!

In Phonics we have looked at the graphemes y, z and zz and the sounds that they make. The children searched for different animals around the playground and then read the clues on the back to decide where in the zoo they needed to go. We also read words and sentences that had z and zz in and investigated which graphemes were used when the phoneme was at the start, middle or end of a word.

In Maths we have been learning about capacity and mass and used lots of brilliant vocabulary to explain how much sand or water was in a cup or bowl. We also used balance scales to work out how much things weighed using cubes.

As part of our pets topic we carefully measured and made salt dough dog treats and then made posters using the sentence ‘We sell dog snacks!’.
