We have had an exciting and action packed week in reception!
In phonics we have be looking at the diagraphs ‘ng’ and ‘ai’. We matched words and sentences to pictures that used the sounds and then had a go at writing our own word and sentences too! In maths we have been looking at shapes. We have investigated the names and properties of different 2D shapes and used them to create our own pictures and models. Once the models and patterns had been made we challenged our friends to recreate them carefully so they looked exactly the same.
On Tuesday, as part of our phonics, we listened to and acted out the story of Goldilocks on the playground. The children loved using the headphones and did a super job listening and following the instructions to play the different characters.
On Wednesday we had forest schools. In the morning we went up to the field as some of our team points had been stolen by a pesky Pirate! The pirate left maps of the school field marking the hiding places of the different colours. The children all worked hard to read and follow the clues on the maps to find the team points and count them using tens frames. We also used mud and water to make our own mud paint and wrote words using this weeks graphemes. In the afternoon we searched the garden for long thin sticks and used these to roast marshmallows over the fire!
On Friday we had a super time celebrating Eid! We had lots of tasty food, made lanterns, coloured some Eid pictures and also had the chance to get tattoos and face paint on our hands.
Next week it is PE on Tuesday.
Have a super weekend!
