EYFS – Newsletter – 28/02/2020
What a busy first week back!
In Phonics this week, we have been looking at the sounds ai and ee. We practised using our phonic knowledge to write our own sentences and also had a go at reading clues and matching them to different characters from traditional tales. Our sounds next week will be the digraphs igh and oa.
In Maths, we have focused on time. We have explored how we measure time and the language we use to talk about time. We then discussed the vocabulary we use to talk about time and how it can used order events.
Next Thursday (5th) will be World Book Day. This is an opportunity for the children to celebrate their favourite books/authors. They will also be able to come to school dressed as their favourite book characters. The day will give the children the opportunity to enjoy a range of books as they complete activities relating to them. If your child has a favourite book that they would like to bring in then please ensure it has their name on it.
Quick reminder that we will be taking the children to the library to scan in and change their own books on Monday. In order to do this they will need their reading book and their record as this has their unique bar code in. We are also looking forward to finding out who can move their rocket on Monday for reading 3 times a week and start their journey towards becoming a Rocket Reader and gaining a place on our reading reward trip!
