EYFS – Snow day activities (These activities are optional)
With school closed due to the snow today (Friday 10th March), we would like to offer some activities that could allow the children to take some of their learning out into the snow!
- If venturing out to make snowmen, the children could easily use vocabulary of comparison to describe what has been built.
- Add a specific number of buttons to the front of a snowman, counting accurately.
- Can you make a 0-10 or 0-20 number-line in the snow, using stones or something similar?
- Can you get creative and make a snow animal?
- Try to write your name in the snow either with a stick or using your feet.
- Towards the end of the day, write a sentence or two about what you have got up to on this snowy day.
- Experiment with taking a bowl or cup of snow into the house and watching what happens to it. Discuss the changing of materials and see whether the melted snow can be re-frozen in another place.
Most importantly, make memories and have fun! These activities are our optional suggestions. It would be fantastic to see some snow-day photos on Tapestry too!
Have a wonderful day!
