LKS2 trip to Bolton Abbey
Dear Parents/Guardians,
LKS2 Trip to Bolton Abbey
Our current topic in Y3/4 is ‘Living Things and Their Habitats’. Over the next few weeks, the children will be looking particularly at river habitats, through learning in geography, science and reading a non fiction text in English lessons. Within this topic, we are going to visit Bolton Abbey in the Yorkshire Dales. Bolton Abbey is an amazing, historic settlement located on the banks of the River Wharfe. The visit will allow the children a chance to view many of the important features of a river as they walk along its banks and follow the river through its various stages. We will also be participating in a river workshop delivered by a member of the Bolton Abbey Education Team who will provide pupils with more detail and information on river erosion, features, river wildlife, the water cycle and more!
The trip will take place on different days depending on whether your child is in Year 3 or Year 4:
Year 3 – Tuesday 5th October 2021
Year 4 – Thursday 14th October 2021
The children will be leaving school at 9.00am and returning at approximately 3pm to be collected like a normal school day.
The children will be required to bring a packed lunch and a small carton of drink (no glass bottles) in a named bag. Children who are entitled to free school meals will have a lunch provided. Children are to wear school uniform but please ensure footwear is appropriate for walking. No flip-flops or sandals are to be worn. Please ensure children have appropriate coats, hats etc. as they will be outside for the whole day and the weather can be unpredictable at this time of year.
The cost of the trip is £10 (children entitled to free school meals £5). Please use your Parent Pay account to pay the correct amount.
Please complete the form below to give permission for your child to attend. If you have any questions then please get in touch with you child’s class teacher.
Yours faithfully,
