Great Yorkshire Show – Group One
The first group of Year 6 pupils visited the Great Yorkshire in Harrogate today and had a thoroughly enjoyable time. The day began by watching a sheep shearing competition where farmers were shearing a whole sheep in under a minute! Next, the children ventured down to the pig and goat area where they watched farmers show their pigs and receive awards in certain classes before going to the goat shed. After that, they were all amazed at coming across a robotic milking machine for cows where the cows line themselves up to be milked! The pupils then visited the horses and got to watch a show jumping competition whilst having their lunch. Once finished, the afternoon was spent in and around the discovery zone where we learnt about bee hives, creepy crawlies, birds of prey, the life cycle of poultry (as well as watching chicks hatching out of eggs) and visited the food hall to sample numerous different cheese! To end our time at the show, we watched a sheep show which was highly entertaining!
