Important Update
As we continue to live in unusual and uncertain times we would like to share with you where we are in terms of planning for next year and end of year arrangements.
Monday saw the return of some Year 1 pupils. They have adapted really well to the new systems and have impressed their teachers with their resilience and work ethic. I know many of you are aware that the government wanted Reception, Year 1 and 6 back on 1st June. Through previous posts we clearly stated that our intention was to continue to provide for key workers and vulnerable groups and ask Year 6 to return under a period of monitoring. When it was deemed safe to do so we would introduce Year 1, followed by a period of monitoring then finally we would ask Reception. Unfortunately because of the guidelines we have to follow and the space available we are unable to welcome any other year groups, including Reception, back into school other than the current groups – Key Workers, Vulnerable, Year 6 and Year 1. We have not been able to state this up until now due to constant changing of guidance and ascertaining numbers of current groups in school. I know some parents and children will be disappointed with this news, as are we, Cookridge Primary School without all of our pupils and the buzz of a busy happy school is not one we want.
Teachers will continue to try to make contact with all parents and speak to as many children as possible, please feel free to ask any questions that you may have that are not covered in the following information. If teaching staff are unable to answer please feel free to email us at info@cookridge.leeds.sch.uk
Yesterday we have received information from the government regarding September opening. Over the next few weeks we will be looking at what this means for us and how we can implement the recommendations. Once we have done this we will share our plans with you. I appreciate that there may be elements of frustration (and we feel it too!) with the timing however schools do not find out any information before it is released to the general public. We will work as quickly as we can on this and keep you updated over the Summer of any changes that maybe implemented by the government over this period that may affect our plans for September. I have attached the link to the main document (which is in the public domain) we have been sent for your perusal should you wish to read it.

Staff have been working behind the scenes writing reports for every pupil. These reports will be available to collect from the school office over the next two weeks. In order to maintain social distancing each phase will have different collection days, notifications will be sent out shortly informing you of these. The children’s books have also been bundled up and will also be available for collection. Alongside the reports you will find your child’s attendance data and a letter from their new teacher. We would have loved to have organised transition for all the children and have spoken to health and safety at length regarding this but unfortunately with the current guidance we are not able to facilitate this.
Take care and stay safe.
