Come on England! It’s been fabulous to see all the football kits in school today.. We had a great green time doing all things football, including a penalty shoot out. We hope that you can all enjoy the match on Sunday Let’s hope we’re still celebrating on Monday morning.
Reminders: Next week is an exciting week. On Tuesday, we will be going to the big swing. Please ensure your child is in appropriate clothing that you do not mind getting dirty. On Thursday, we have our rescheduled beach day….we can’t wait! It will be a great way to finish off our topic of the seaside. Again, please ensure that your child is in appropriate clothing, with a change of clothes and a towel. Please name any extra items that you are sending in, such as water pistols.
PPA got the children into the spirit of the football, as Mrs Durrant led the children in building rhythms to go with ‘It’s coming home’. Have a look together on her youtube channel. In art the children were making and designing waves and in PE they have great fun playing on body boards and learning to play curling and boccia.
In English this week class 1 have been making videos to introduce year one to the Reception children. They have been interviewing people asking key questions and writing sentences about them using the conjunction ‘and’. Class two have been focusing on phonics. They have been practising reading real and alien words using their phonic knowledge.
In year two, the focus has been on writing in the past and present, ensuring the correct tense is used in the correct context and that the children understand about how the ending of the verb changes in regular verbs and to learn the irregular verbs. They have been focusing on suffix endings, -er, -ed and –ing.
In Maths, Class one have continued to practise their multiplication skills using arrays. Class two have continued learning about fractions and have begun to find a half and a quarter of a number. Year two finished off finding fractions of number and using these within word problems. They then moved on to finding fractions of shapes using this knowledge.
Year one completed their Science experiments, finding out which toilet roll is the most absorbent and therefore the best to use.
Year one’s PHSE has been using the Press Play headphones to learn about healthy eating. Year two have been exploring feelings; identifying which feelings are good and which are not. They then thought about how different situations can make us feel and how we can manage our emotions in different situations.
