KS1 – Final newsletter of 2020 – 18.12.20
It’s Friday and the holiday’s are here!
Lots of fun and festivities have been happening in Key Stage 1 all week….but work has been continuing too.
In English Year 2 have been learning all about how Christmas is celebrated across the world and have been finding information to fill in factfiles. In Maths they have continued to add two two-digit numbers and solved word problems using this skill.
We have had fun around the firepit, drinking hot chocolate with the Christmas elves and eating mince pies and satsumas! We had a visit from Santa who brought us all a selection box and read us the ‘Stickman’ story.
We enjoyed partying together in the hall. Dancing and playing games. We have also been making various Christmas crafts and cards and well as hearing and writing about the Christmas story.
In music we all learned about who Tchaikvosky was and about how he composed the ‘Nutcracker suite’. In Art, we were making Christmas themed decorations/ water bottle toppers.
We would like to say a big thank you to Mr Dow and Miss Kaye, two of our student teachers who have been with us this term. They will both be moving on to their next schools in the new year and we wish them both well.
We are proud of the children and all that they have achieved through 2020, despite such difficult circumstances. We would like to wish them and you all, a very happy Christmas and we look forward to a better and healthy 2021!
Below you will find some home learning activities to keep your little ones busy should you need it. These are OPTIONAL tasks and we have just attached them as ideas if Christmas is taking too long to arrive!
