KS1 – Forest School – Loose Parts
What a fantastic start Key Stage 1 made to Forest School today despite the torrential rain and strong, blustery winds. To begin the sessions, we developed our listening, communication and teamwork skills by playing a popular Forest School games ‘Fire and Tarps’ and ‘Ninja Sticks.’ As well as developing the skills already mentioned, pupils learnt about fairness, why rules are needed in games and respect. Next, children developed their understanding of loose parts and how to respect nature whilst working in it. Using their creative skills, imaginations, loose parts and paper plates, children recreated themselves and added in objects such as footballs, scooters and wands as well as favourite pet hamsters and dogs. Finally, pupils learnt about the importance of leaving the area as we found it and were great in tidying all the loose parts so they could be used again by others.
