KS1 – Mud Pies – Forest School
Pupils in KS1 have enjoyed a wonderful day outside in Forest School today. To coincide with British Pie Week, which began yesterday, children were tasked with making the most delicious mud pie they could in our mud kitchen. Their imaginations ran wild and we had cucumber pie, strawberry pie, sausage pie and even a dinosaur pie! Children were tasked with creating the heaviest, or the thinnest, or the gloopiest pie they could and took it all in their stride. Using mud, water, loose parts and anything they could find, children mixed ingredients and added toppings and seasonings to their wonderfully creative dishes! As well as this, children also had a tour of the animals where they inspected the new goat enclosure and helped Mr Gamble with a very important job. He explained how compost, soil and mud is made and showed the pupils the school compost bins. Teams then worked together to begin to rotate and move the material inside so we could access the newly made compost to add to the kitchen garden beds ready for the plants and the arrival of Spring!
