It’s been a busy and exciting week in Key Stage 1!
The children had an amazing trip to Golden Acre Park, splashing in muddy puddles and looking at all of the different features. It was lovely to come back to school to an e-mail from a member of the public, commenting on the children’s exemplary behaviour. Each and every one of them should be extremely proud. Below is a copy of the e-mail received by a member of the public.
Dear Sir/Madam,
My name is ——– and I just wanted to send you a message of praise following a visit to Golden Acre Park today, Monday 10th May 2021. I was attending the park as a childminder when I saw a minibus of pupils from Cookridge Primary arrive in the car park, as well as this as I walked around the park and reached the water edge area where the ducks are generally found where I again bumped into the school group.
I must commend your wonderful pupils and staff for being so pleasant, the children were excited but engaged, discussing with their peers things they could see, the behaviour was impeccable and as the staff stopped the group to gather and listen to input, the group were polite and responsive.
I was previously a primary teacher myself and so appreciate the work that goes into school trips and behaviour management and I just wanted to pass on that your school were presented very well and the children and staff should feel proud of themselves, what lovely children, please do pass this on to them and their teaching staff, I hope they had a fantastic time too.
Following the trip, the children used their knowledge to write leaflets about Golden Park. They wrote about the different features, activities they could do and what they liked about it.
In Maths Class 1 have been comparing numbers and looking at greater than, Class 2 have begun to learn the multiplication facts for the 2, 5 and 10 times tables. Year 2 have been consolidating their addition and subtraction skills and looking at solving subtraction missing number problems.
Computing has been building up their programming and debugging skills and in Science they have been looking at parts of a plant and using drama to re-enact a plant growing.
Happy Eid Celebrations to all those families who have been celebrating this week. We look forward to celebrating Eid with you all next Friday. Please remember it is a non-uniform day on Friday.
We hope you all have a lovely weekend.
Key Stage 1 Team.
