Another week down and what lovely week we have had.
This week saw the start of our textiles event. We created finger puppets based on the characters of The Gingerbread Man. We learnt a basic running stitch to sew the puppet together and decorated it as our chosen character.
In English year 1 have been environmental activists this week. First, we re-wrote a letter to green peace based on the book we have been reading “Dear Green Peace”. We also looked at the Green Peace website and held an environmental conference where we spoke up for our beliefs on climate change. Finally, we researched about the pollution in the oceans and have begun to create a fact file about how we can look after the world’s oceans. In year 2 we have been writing a recount of the trip we had to Bridlington. We have made sure we include key facts and features of a recount.
In science this week we have been continuing to monitor the beans we planted and made some observations. We also learnt more about what plants need to grow.
In RE year 1 have looked at stories from the Muslim faith. In year 2 we looked at how Christians pray in different ways.
This week some year 2 children visited a skipping competition
. Cookridge came second overall in the competition along with 7 children placing in their individual events. We are really proud of all the children who took part and represented Cookridge!
We also have to say a sad goodbye to our lovely student teacher in Class 1 – Miss Jordan. We have loved having Miss Jordan as part of our team and wish her the best of luck in the next step of her career.
