It’s been a great final week of the half term in Key Stage One!
Both Year groups have been writing historical narratives this week in English. Year One, have written theirs about Opportunity, the space rover who went to Mars. Year Two have been writing theirs about Neil Armstrong, using all their knowledge to create a story.
In Maths, Year One have bene learning about sharing and the principle that ‘when we share it must be fair’. They have looked at good methods of sharing to ensure each group is equal. Year Two have been completing some assessments to show their understanding of the Year Two curriculum so far.
In our music lessons this week, Year One have begun to learn about the ‘Carnival of the animals’. Today they have listened to the music from the lions and the hens. Year Two have begun to learn a new song called ‘Tideo’.
In Art the children have been using chalks to create space pictures, including planets and stars.
In Design technology, the children have continued to learn basic sewing skills. This week, they have begun to sew the designed piece of material for their planet onto a backing piece of material.
We were very lucky to have a theatre company in on Wednesday afternoon to perform ‘Alice in Wonderland’. The children absolutely loved it and it was an absolute joy to see the pleasure on their faces as they watched and joined in!
We have ended the week on a high with our pattern day. It has been great to see all the children showing off patterns in different ways through their clothing. We’ve had a great day exploring and making patterns to create our very own pattern books, based around the book ‘The Pattern Fish’. Please see the main post for more information and photos.
Have a fantastic break and we will see you all on Monday 3rd June!
