LKS2 – Class 5 -Science

Year 3s and 4s have been learning all about light in their science lessons this half term. We have investigated a variety of things, and this week we learned about shadows! We found that a shadow occurs when an opaque object blocks the light. Then we started to think about how we can make shadows change shape and size, without changing the object. The children noticed that if we moved the light source further away from the object, the shadow became smaller. If we moved it closer, the shadow became bigger! We investigated this using a torch and some multilink cubes, and drew around the shadows that were made when the torch was held at different heights.
