LKS2 – Class 5 – World Book Day

Last week, we had a wonderful World Book Day in Class 5!

To start our day. we had a fantastic assembly where we met a poet named Donavan Christopher (Rapperman). He shared his poems and jokes with us which were very funny!

After assembly, we had a library masterclass where Mrs Harrison showed us around the school library. We discussed the different genres and sections of the library so we will feel more confident finding exciting new books in the future.

Then, we got into groups to make a script using our favourite characters. We thought about the characters, setting and main events that would take place in our play. When we completed our scripts, we rehearsed our performance ready to share with the class.

In the afternoon, we got to go to a workshop with Mr Donavan. He shared some more poems with us and then we took part in an activity using the word, ‘Knowledge,’ to show us how he created one if his poems. It was great to spend some more time with him and learn a little bit more about the inspiration behind his poems.

One of our favourite parts of the day was welcoming our mystery reader into class 5 to read us a Captain Underpants book! A big thank you to Mrs Dhanjal for joining us and sharing the story!
