LKS2 – Donkey Sanctuary

On our weekly visit to the donkeys we learnt all about their diet and nutritional needs. We visited the feed shed to learn about the supplement food they receive and what nutrients it gives them that is not present in hay or straw. Then, we collected a wheelbarrow and ventured around the site; visiting a herb garden and a woodland walk picking various plants for them to eat including goose grass, thistles, nettles, grasses and willow. In the yard, we made the donkeys a salad bar and then watched as the donkeys feasted on the items we had foraged.
