LKS2 – Fire Making – Forest School
Pupils in LKS2 continued their series of lessons on fire making. They revisited previous learning on using flint and steel to make sparks, how to build different fire lays and their benefits and disadvantages and how to maintain and grow a fire. Children then worked in groups to build a fire lay, light a fire and grow it. Along the way, they needed to use lots of resilience, communication and problem solving, particularly when their fire went out. If children were successful in creating a fire hot enough for cooking, children collected the eggs from the chickens and cooked themselves fried eggs – which tasted eggcellent!
