LKS2 – Fire Making – Forest School
Pupils in LKS2 had their last chance to practice and perfect their fire making skills before our Stone Age Days next week. Teams worked together to successfully build different types of fire lays using a variety of different size sticks. Remembering to place their cotton wool in the middle, pupils then had the tricky task of trying to set it on fire without knocking the fire lay over – if they did, they had to start again! If successful, children used kelly kettles to warm water to add to herbal teas. For this, pupils foraged in our herb garden using herbs like chives, rosemary, oregano, lemon mint and thyme as well as raspberries to create a delicious, natural flavoured drink. As always, there was a lot of resilience, problem solving, teamwork and fantastic communication on show today – essential skills needed in all areas of life.
