LKS2 – Kelly Kettles – Forest School
Building on their knowledge of fire making from earlier in the year, pupils in LKS2 were challenged with learning how to use kelly kettles in order to boil water. Making a fire lay inside a kettle base is a tricky, complicated and delicate job but one the children persevered with and we managed to get some fires going. Remaining safe in adding the kettle, feeding the fire and managing their risk, some teams then heated the water further before pouring into cups to enjoy a tasty reward of hot juice for their hard work. This knowledge will build week on week so that the pupils will be independently making their own nettle tea – just like the Romans did!
