LKS2 – Nettle Tea – Forest School
Pupils in LKS2 put their fire skills to the test today by trying to replicate a Roman hot drink – nettle tea. Nettle leaves contain many healthy antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals, which means that there may be potential benefits of nettle tea, and the Romans brought these stinging plants to Britain when they invaded. Children worked in teams to light fires in kelly kettle bases, harvest and wash nettle leaves and brew the tea. After stirring, they used sieves to strain the liquid and poured it into cups to taste. The flavour got a mixed reception by the pupils and they are looking forward to making it again for parents at our parent event after Easter.
