This week in French, the children learnt how to order in a French restaurant. To do this, they learnt how to say ‘I would like…’ in French and different French foods. Then, they used their learning from last half-term to integrate greetings into their role-plays. The children engaged in conversations with each other by communicating in a real-life scenario. They applied their developing accurate pronunciation and intonation to this also.
In Science, we have been learning about fossils and how fossils are formed. After putting the events of fossilisation into order we had a go at making our fossils. We are excited to see how they turn out after they weekend!
In English, we explored homophones as a group. We had to match pairs of homophones together, and then we used a dictionary to look up their meanings. We stuck the homophones and wrote the definitions on to sugar paper. Then, we chose one of the homophones to use in a sentence and wrote our sentence on a white board. We also developed our summarising skills by focussing on the key events from the story so far. In groups, we brain stormed which events were of most importance to the plot so that we could include the 6 key points. We then used the SOMEBODY, WANTED, BUT, SO technique to help us chronologically order the events. We used Purple Mash storyboard creator to record the key events and in our groups we took pictures of ourselves doing freeze frames to match our sentences.
