LKS2 – Roman Buildings – Forest School
For our final Forest School session this half-term, LKS2 finished off their series of sessions using loose parts and studying Roman architecture. To begin with, children played two games which required them to demonstrate the skills Romans needed. We played ‘Cross the Empire’ (a Roman/Forest School equivalent of cross the river) and then competed in chariot racing at the hippodrome! Once we were nicely warmed up, children then began to reflect on their successes and failures from the previous two sessions before putting that learning into today’s challenge of building a Roman temple, colosseum or hippodrome. Children also had the opportunity to create a tiled mosaic floor for Roman baths using loose parts.
